say my name & every colour illuminates

Firstly, I love florence & the machine.
Secondly, I love mint & musk. to eat, drink & wear.
Thirdly, I love flowers.

Hallelujah! Spring is neeeearly here! I for one am incredibly excited at the prospect of more sun filled afternoons at cafes & in the garden. The blossom trees are all starting to bloom, the anemone's & ranunculi are poking up their little colourful faces & even my summer vegetable seedlings are coming along a treat. With the masses of seeds planted I am attempting to build a third veggie box to grow even more produce... Yup, in case you hadn't noticed I am kind of a hippy. Hope everyone is having a lovely day dear miss pretty xx

Parsnip soup

Carrot gets the majority of the root vegetable recognition. Whereas parsnips tend to be the pale, sickly looking sister that people don't ever seem to know quite what to do with. Poor poor delicious parsnip.  It is so scrumptious as a soup with a wee bit of cream, garlic & fresh herbs. Ah well, more for me!!! Anywhoo, enough talking & more eating! Oh parsnip soup! Get in my belly!

I don't want no other, you're my cameo lover

Before it met me this dress used to be a full length monstrosity.
It was size enormous, had absolutely no shape, a chokingly high neckline & a button up back.
Kind of like a brightly coloured polka dotted XL nuns habit? So I attacked it & switched the button up back to be the front, gave it a collar, chopped the length & tailored it to fit my shape!
So now it resembles a blue minnie mouse dress, which should probably worry me more than it does...

Secretly everyone likes to think that they could win the hunger games.

Secretly everyone likes to think that they could win the hunger games.
That if we were faced with a crisis situation, we would embrace our inner macgyver & defeat the odds. We all want to be invincible!

Admitting you were vulnerable & hurt, requires us to swallow our pride. Pride that we are not infallible & in complete control of our emotions. That maybe, we aren't quite as perfect as macgyver & his perfectly coiffed mullet... Dang it!

More often than not 'struggling to forgive someone' is not so much about forgiving the other person who wronged you. It is actually about learning to forgive ourselves for allowing ourselves to be hurt in the first place...

Forgiving takes enormous courage. It requires fierce strength to let go of bitterness. Well, that's my thought for the day!

that is why, for christs sake, i delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. for when i am weak, then i am strong. - 2 corinthians 12:10

there is no need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bear witness that a man has the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer - frankl

Lilo

Life has been a big pool of busy lately!
So I wanted to maximise my much needed day off, so I went on a little road trip to Dromana.
On the way to heronswood gardens, we stopped off at one of my favourite little cafes along the peninsula. A quirky little place named Lilo. The cafe is right on the beach, cosy, modern & has a city edge. Which I love. Apart from the delicious food, it is also incredibly visually appealing. Imagine a box of green crayons exploded in a cafe & you are left with Lilo. I mean that in a good way. Decorated in numerous shades of green, you can tell that whoever decorated this place had far too much fun!

eye spy a pineapple lamp & the statue of liberty!
cactus teacups. of course.

caffeine fix

Theres always something new & quirky happening there if you look. Last time I visited was in the summertime and they had potted heirloom tomato on the counter for sale. This time I fell in love with cute up-cycled jar's the owners had made.
vintage farm figurines glued onto vintage jar caps & spray painted!

Now admittedly I could make this fairly easily, but I always like to financially support & encourage people who have innovative creative ideas (lets blame my artist family for this 'appreciate art' mentality). So I went home with the cute horse jar for $12.
Raise a glass of champagne. Here is to losing hair ties no more! Cheers!!!

I'm fluffy and i know it

meet my other dog. she was a little miffed not to be mentioned earlier...

name: hi im daisy, feel free to pat me & fall in love
breed: spoodle - I'm like a fluffy french chenille rug
gender: miss
favourite toy: ball or mumma pretty. hmmn... i choose mumma pretty. she gives better snuggles.
favourite activity: snuggles. obviously.
least favourite activity: when people find me too cute. such a drainer! i tend to just go completely floppy & make them work for it.
best trick: my ability to open sliding doors with my paw is up there.
collects: odd sport socks from the laundry baskets & anything furry that i can use as camoflage.
guilty pleasure: sneakily pashing humans when they least expect it. so much love for the humans.
fears: climbing up stairs & being left in the dark.
worst habits: invisible manoeuvre. planking so flat that i become a furry rug, when the target is in sight i pounce!!! its seriously the best fun. sometimes the humans step on me though...
any other closing thoughts: I am fluffier than a chenille rug. snuggle me.

Barbie bread breakfast

My mother has a knack for making friends with complete strangers. To the point where it is not entirely unusual for me to be handed thank you letters & presents from strange people who love her. Haha! Oh mama pretty!
Now, one of these strangers was a lovely gentleman who happened to own an organic cafe. My mum got chatting to the young italian fella & came home with two loaves of organic bread that he gifted her. WOW!

There was a lovely pumpkin bread with sunflower seeds, which was delish & was thus munched up in a heartbeat. The other amazing loaf was in a rather intimidating shade of fuchsia pink... So after chanting the 'don't judge a book by its cover mantra' a few times to psych myself up. I nibbled on the slightly barbie hued loaf. One nibble & I was utterly hooked!
To this day beetroot bread is my all time favourite bread.

Soo, this morning I had some with avocado, danish fetta, herbs from the garden & olive oil. Yum yum yum.

Friends are like food

Some are like macaroons -
They come in a million trillion different colours & flavours. The creativity and beauty is amazing! However whether they be a salted caramel, blueberry, creme brule or after dinner mint. These sugar coated delightful treats astound for a short time but have no substance. If you fill yourself with these, you will end up with a belly ache & sugary light head.

Some are like [sandwiches] -
Your mum likes them. Mainly because they are safe. Unfortunately they are  pretty boring. Especially the ones without crusts. Seriously... Who cuts off crusts?! And because you were forced to eat them all through school, as soon as you develop any independence you will swap these sandwich friends for anything more exciting. For better or worse.

Some friends are like tofu -
Tofu is a good source of protein, but is ridiculously chewy, totally tasteless & only vegetarians eat it. Tofu friends are highly educated friends who will use worlds like manifold, propensity & revelatory, regardless of the social setting. Sigh! If you are one of these friends you will have noticed that I spelled revelatory with the american spelling not the english spelling. These friends are well meaning & can genuinely be beneficial to your life. However they have a tendency to preach their immaculately formulated good ideals, these friends are often quite bland & slightly disengaged with the rest of the world that exists outside of their safe tasteless chewy tofu circle.

Some friends are like BBQ sausages -
Such party treats, not too fancy pantsy, saucy & generally delish. BBQ sausage friends tend to be seasonal. When the last ukulele chords have been played for the season & the weather drops below 25, they pack away into hibernation. They don't seem to exist in colder months, although I am sure they have bought a wetsuit & are surfing somewhere? Dont worry too much about them disappearing over winter, they reemerge next summer! Like all good BBQ sausages do. So enjoy these iconic summer staples while the sun is still out!

Some friends are like fruit

I feel this is fairly self explanatory! Great but fairly... er... fruity? Small doses of cray cray are great & necessary. But I probably wouldn't want a whole basket for dinner.

Some friends are like   brie cheese   -
Lets face it, brie cheese is cheese. Cheese that is not content to be regular cheese. Oh no, it's a little fermented darlings! This is the type of friend that works really really hard to be different from every other person in the universe & spends exorbitant amounts of time/money to appear different. These friends can still be amazing talented people to be around as they have invested their lives into becoming super skilled & unique. Often with talent comes narcissism. Unsurprisingly, brie cheese friends only like other brie cheese friends, they hate being surrounded by plain regular cheese. Unfortunately these friends, often have very little interest in being friends to anyone who does not further their careers or meet their blue cheese ways. They get very caught up in their blue mouldiness, so be careful to not let the blue mould spread to you.. Enjoy these friends in small doses at your mutual high brow events but be sure to munch with a good chunk of bread.

Some friends are like (sushi) -
Cold & all wrapped up in seaweed, then wrapped in rice... Sushi friends are actually mostly great! To the majority of people they just seem cold, aloof & confusing little tubes. Shhh... This is actually just a farce!!! But they won't tell you that. There are all kinds of goodness once you get past the seaweed & rice layers. The main downside is that they do take quite a bit of effort to get to know. They have layers to know if they trust you, but once you get to know & like a sushi friend. Its for life baby! I wouldn't want to eat ONLY cold food all the time though.

Some friends are cake -
YUM!! oh wait! WHAAA??? These are the friends that WE think are great because they always seem to show up at the best kinds of parties. Unfortunately, they just don't care for us very much & are quite willing to cellulite our legs. dang it.

Some friends are vegetables -
Nutritious, colourful, not always the thing you would initially choose to eat but are totally necessary. Vegetable friends aren't always the most 'look at me look at me' friends, they are always there for you & as a result can often be neglected/undervalued. Vegetables are at the base of the food pyramid, without these veggie friends to ground you, you will flail for stability under your own ego. These friends tend to be the ones who tell it like it is!!! This will initially leave you offside, but unpopular words spoken in honesty are the ones that resonate & ultimately take root.  The funniest thing about vegetable friends is that you learn to appreciate them more & more as you age. They keep you healthy & always leave you feeling full. I like veggie friends!

You are what you eat. So be sure its something with some nutrients.

ps. Did I miss any?

great friends eat chocolate brownies for breakfast!
