gardening - just call me don burke

I am slightly concerned that instead of becoming an old cat lady, I have adopted vegetables...
Perhaps it is because i studied plant biology at university?
Ethical/moral based reasoning aside, I am well & truly fascinated with the myriad of colours, shapes & tastes that heirloom vegetables come in! Who would have known that tomatoes are not only red, but pink, yellow, orange, green, purple, white & striped! Also, did you know there is such a thing as a purple potato? Not making this stuff up.
I plan on growing some AMAZING treasures this coming summer, including fuchsia borlotti beans & black striped tomatoes.

Here are some of the treasures I grew from seed last summer:
scarlet runner beans - these beans grow for SEVEN years & have beautiful scarlet flowers. just call me jack.

lemon drop tomato - bite size cherry toms with a zesty tang. highly prolific!

heirloom climbing beans - scarlet runner, purple king, rattlesnake.

pretty patch

there is something satisfying about harvest - zucchini tromboncino, purple king bean, rattlesnake bean, green bean, basil, lemon drop tomato, and zucchini flowers

dear miss pretty

i just met you and i already love you

meet my dog.

I just met you & I already love you

name: brinkley
breed: golden retriever
gender: mister
favourite toy: toys? I just want everyone to love me!
favourite activity: being patted & leaning
least favourite activity: not being patted. it's the worst!
best trick: shaking paws
collects: socks & pieces of paper
guilty pleasure: sitting in the potato patch
favourite movie star: aslan from the narnia chronicles.
worst habit: sometimes brinkley gets so overwhelmed with excitement that he is going on a run with miss pretty that he stops directly in front to give a love lick. resulting in either a successful hurdle, or a rather flamboyant owner fall. more often than not it is the latter. many a car & fit person has borne witness to this dramatic event. dang it.

living my life like it's golden

Once upon a time,
in a small dimly lit op-shop I stumbled upon the strangest of garments. It shimmered & shone from every angle much akin to an ornament on a christmas tree. Its ridiculousness made me chuckle! Who on earth ever wore this strange luminous garment? Why? Perhaps more importantly who in their right mind designed it? Obviously they were tripping.
However for the tidy sum of 50cents, who was I to say no?!? After all, I reasoned, it would come in handy for glitter themed costume parties (is there even such a thing?)

Then one day, in a moment of total disregard for convention, I raided my fancy dress basket & threw the craycray bolero on. It was love. Now I am convinced that every day should be a gold glitter bolero day. Why not!

I'm taking my freedom

pulling it off the shelf
puttin' it on my chain
wearing it round my neck
I'm taking my freedom
puttin' it in my car
wherever i choose to go
It will take me far

I'm taking my own freedom
putting it in my song
singing loud and strong
proving all day long
I'm takin' my freedom
puttin' it in my stroll
I'll be hop-steppin' y'all
lettin' the joy unfold

I'm holdin' on to my freedom
'Can take it from me
I was born in-to it,
it comes naturally
I'm strumming my own freedom
playing the god in me
representing his glory
hope he's proud of me...

I'm living my life like it's golden
